This Privacy Policy describes the manner in which the Investment Industry Association of Canada (“IIAC”) collects uses and/or discloses personal information, including on our website at the following URL/domain name: www.iiac.ca.

General Privacy Principles

The IIAC is committed to providing our Site users with exceptional service. Part of providing this service may involve the collection, use and disclosure of some personal information about our users. We respect the privacy of our users and aim to protect the personal information of individuals who visit the Site. “Personal Information” is any factual or subjective personal information, recorded or not, about an identifiable individual. The IIAC does not engage in the practice of selling or trading personal information to third parties for promotional or other purposes.

Accountability

The IIAC will be responsible for personal information in its possession, including information that has been transferred to a third party for processing. The IIAC has designated a Privacy Officer who is accountable for the IIAC’s privacy compliance. Identifying Purposes

The IIAC may collect, use and/or disclose personal information about you from time to time. For example, the IIAC may collect information about you such as your name, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address, when you register to become a Site user.

Personal information collected by the IIAC is used for one or more of the following purposes: to verify your identity; to provide you with information respecting IIAC’s services; to provide you with information regarding other IIAC members; to improve the content of our Site and/or our services.

Any time the IIAC collects personal information from you, it will notify you of the specific purposes for such collection, at or before the time of collection, and obtain the appropriate consent from you.

In addition to the personal information you may provide to us, the Site uses technology that allows the IIAC to collect certain technical information. This information may include your Internet protocol address, your computer’s operating system, your browser type and the address of any referring web sites.

From time to time, the IIAC may place information on your computer to allow the IIAC to identify you. This information is commonly known as “cookies”. By showing how and when IIAC visitors use the Site, this information can help the IIAC continue to improve the Site. The use of cookies is an industry standard and many Web sites use them. By submitting personal information to the Site, you agree that the IIAC may collect, use and disclose such personal information as described in, and in accordance with, this Policy and as permitted or required by law. If you refuse or withdraw your consent to certain purposes, we may not be able to establish or maintain a relationship with you or provide you with services or information that may be of value to you.

Affiliates, Third Parties and Related Organizations

By using the Site, you accept that your personal information, gained through registration or otherwise in connection with your use of the Site and its services, may be transferred to the IIAC’s related organizations, subcontractors or agents who perform tasks related to the Site and its services, or for the purposes of storing the data in the relevant database which may be located in countries other than your country of work or residence. The IIAC will not disclose your personal information to any other third party without your permission. Where personal information is provided to a third party for any purpose such third party will be required to enter into a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement with the IIAC, prior to the transfer of personal information to such authorized third party.

Limiting Collection, Use, Disclosure and Retention

The IIAC will limit its collection of personal information to that information which is necessary for the purposes identified in this Policy (or otherwise identified by the IIAC at the time of collection of the personal information) and will only use such information for the purposes identified. The IIAC will only disclose your personal information as previously identified and consented to by you. The IIAC retains your personal information only for so long as is necessary to fulfill the purposes identified.

Please also note that if the IIAC is compelled by law, court order or other judicial process to disclose any of your personal information to a court, administrative body, government agency or other third party, the IIAC will attempt to give you prior notice using the contact information you provided. You hereby authorize the IIAC to disclose any information about you for any of the above stated purposes.

Safeguards

The IIAC will protect your personal information through safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information to protect your personal information against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
