We examine India’s transition to a T+1 settlement cycle, focusing on the lessons learned regarding the readiness of technology infrastructure and the operational changes required in trade matching, liquidity management, and counterparty risk. We also explore the possibility and implications of moving towards a T+0 settlement cycle in the future.

Uttam Bagri

Uttam Bagri served as Chairman of the Bombay Stock Exchange Brokers Forum from 2016 to 2021 and continues as a member of the Governing Board.

Mr. Bagri is the third generation of his family to lead BCB Brokerage Private Limited. The firm was founded in 1958 and provides a wide range of services to a diverse client base including institutional investors, portfolio managers, and professional traders. The company is a Stock Broker registered with BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India, a Depository Participant of the Central Depository Services India Limited, and a SEBI Registered Merchant Banker (Category 1).

Mr. Bagri is a B.Com graduate from the University of Mumbai and holds a post-graduate degree in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Vaisshali is a capital market veteran with overall capital market experience of 30 years. Her experience spread across custodian business, product, relationship management, operations management, project management including compliance and audit. She was recognized and awarded “Best in Custody” at the Women in Finance Asia Awards in 2022.
