Multi-Year Partnership With Indspire to Create the AGF Scholarship Fund for Indigenous Students

Equity Through Education Program

BMO Capital Markets announced that its 2021 Equity Through Education trading day, held on September 22, 2021, raised C$1.6 million toward educational assistance for students in North America and the UK.

Every year BMO donates 100 per cent of one day’s institutional equity trading commissions in North America and Europe to charities that provide scholarships, bursaries, mentoring programs and development opportunities to underprivileged students to help them achieve their potential.

Active Supporter of the Arts

In Canada, BNP Paribas helps promote and foster Canadian art and culture through various sponsorship programs and corporate partnerships. BNP is an active supporter of important cultural institutions such as the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, and Crow’ Theatre in Toronto.

In addition, Dream Up, an international program of the BNP Paribas Foundation active in 30 countries including Canada, has provided opportunities to more than 55,000 disadvantaged schoolchildren to engage in artistic activities such as music, singing, theater, dance, and visual arts. In Canada, for its first edition of Dream Up, the bank partnered with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. For its second edition of Dream Up, the bank collaborated with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

Charity Day

Every year, Cantor Fitzgerald and its affiliates, BGC Partners and GFI Group, in conjunction with the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund, commemorate its 658 friends and colleagues and 61 Eurobrokers employees who perished on September 11, 2001 by distributing 100% of its global revenues on Charity Day to the Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund and dozens of charities around the world. Since its inception, Charity Day has raised approximately $180 million globally. Charity Day 2021 was held on Friday, September 10.

Supporting Communities and Causes Across Canada

CIBC remains committed to investing in Indigenous communities through annual contributions of more than $1.8M supporting scholarships and partnerships like the CIBC STEM Learning Fund with Connected North. On September 29, 2021, CIBC announced an additional $50,000 donation to the Orange Shirt Society, an organization working to support Survivors of the residential school system in Canada.  

Every year, on the first Wednesday of December, the CIBC Capital Markets team and CIBC Wood Gundy Investment Advisors donate their fees and commissions to help kids in need. Since its inception, CIBC Miracle Day has raised over $110 million for children’s charities across Canada.

The CIBC Run for the Cure is the country’s largest single day event in support of the breast cancer cause. In partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society, more than $56 million has been raised over the last 24 years.

Legacy of Hope Foundation

CWB donated $20,000 to the Legacy of Hope Foundation (LHF), part of a pledge announced in June 2021 to provide immediate new funding to a national organization that aids reconciliation in Canada, educates, and builds awareness about the impacts of the Residential School System. The LHF will use the funding to develop materials that informs Canadians about Indigenous history and solutions that further equality, hope and healing.

Supporting Youth and Women in Need

To help during these difficult and uncertain times, as the pandemic continues to strongly impact young people, Desjardins participates in a variety of national and local initiatives aimed to bring youth and communities together including the Student Technology Donation Program, Relay for Life, Jump Rope for Heart, and the Desjardins Foundation. The Together For Our Youth program dedicates $50 million a year towards empowering young people by supporting education, community participation, employment and physical and mental health.

Echelon Impact Day

On October 7th, 2021, Echelon inaugurated an annual Echelon Impact Day. It partnered with Women’s College Hospital Foundation to raise over $110,000 to address a nation-wide, under-researched, under-reported criminal activity that has serious lifelong consequences for its victims. Sex trafficking is a growing concern across the country and affects people from all walks of life, with the vast majority being girls and women under 24.

Contributing to Community Programs That Have a Measurable Impact

To support vulnerable Canadians, HSBC Canada has donated to Food Banks Canada, United Way Centraide Canada, and Breakfast Club of Canada. Donations to children’s hospitals across Canada focused on COVID-19 relief and support for families.
